His main research interests are the Latin epigraphy, the Palaeohispanic languages and epigraphies, the Textual criticism and the Roman Literature. He is Director of the research team LITTERA (Laboratory for research and treatment of Roman and ancient Epigraphic texts). He is a member of the Committee of the new edition of the Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum II (Hispania) and of the International Commitee of Palaeohispanistic.

He has led numerous research projects funded by public institutions, e.g. “El helenismo en la Península Ibérica en época romana” (2003-05); “Escritura, cultura y sociedad en el conventus Caesaraugustanus: edición y estudio del CIL II2/12” (2004-07); “PALEORED: Red temática para el estudio de las lenguas y culturas paleohispánicas”, 2005-07; “Escritura, cultura y sociedad en el conventus Tarraconensis (pars septentrionalis): edición y estudio del CIL II2/14.2” (2008-10) and “Escritura, cultura y sociedad en el conventus Carthaginiensis (Insulae Baliares): edición y estudio del CIL II2/13.3” (2011-15).

He has been Secretary of several international Congresses and Colloquia: Historia Augusta Colloquium Barcinonense 1993, Historia Augusta Colloquium Barcinonense 2002, International Colloquium of the AIEGL 2002. He has organized the IX International Colloquium of Palaeohispanic Languages and Cultures, 2004. He has offered courses and lectures at numerous Spanish and international Universities and Academies. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of several international journals and an evaluator in several European programmes. He received in 2003 the Award for High Research of the Gouvernment of Catalonia and from 2014 he is Fellow of the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut.
