Researcher in CNRS 1975-2015, lecturing in EPHE (École Pratique des Hautes Études), 1988-2015. Thesis 1985 (Univ. Paris-III) on coordinated nominal clauses in Celtic. Visiting Fellow in Jesus College, Oxford (Rhys Fellowship) 1987-88. Organised the 9th International Congress of Celtic Studies in Paris, July 1991. Correspondant of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.

Research interests: Celtic languages, Celtic comparative grammar, Gaulish epigraphy, and Early Medieval Celtic texts (particularly Old Irish, Old Welsh and Old Breton glosses ; Irish versions of the Biblical apocrypha ; links between Old Irish and Hiberno-Latin texts).

Secretary (1979), then Director (2009) of the periodical Etudes Celtiques (CNRS-Editions, Paris).
