1984–1990 MA in Indo-European Studies in Innsbruck (Austria).

1991–1995 PhD in Celtic Studies at St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth (Ireland).

1996–2001 Project fellow at the Universities of Halle/Saale and Freiburg/Breisgau (Germany).

2002–2006 Visiting Professor, Department of Linguistics, University of Vienna.

2003 Habilitation in Historical Linguistics.

2008–2011 Assistant Professor, Department of Linguistics, University of Vienna.

Since 2012 Associate Professor, Department of Linguistics, University of Vienna.

 

His research interests include, among various other things, the ancient writing systems and languages of the Italic peninsula, particularly Raetic and Etruscan, and Venetic.

He is currently project leader of Thesaurus inscriptionum raeticarum, a project for collecting, presenting and analysing all Raetic inscriptions known up to now as an online database.
